Welcome
Thanks for visiting. If you like my blog, I’d be grateful if you’d click the buttons of your choice at the foot of this page to share on Facebook etc.
The icons in the left sidebar provide quick navigation through comments, archives, tags, categories and popular posts. All my posts are automatically tweeted so click here to join the 1,500+ people who follow me.
With twitter visitors increasing daily, I’m conscious that a number of readers will be fairly new to racing. Where there is jargon in articles, I will try to remember to place a link to the glossary. All links on the blog are in bold and italics and are easily identified by hovering the mouse over them.
If you’d like to find out a bit more about me, please read on.
My name is Joe McNally. I’ve always worked in the racing and betting business – marketing manager at Aintree in the ’90s (there for the ‘void’ National in ’93 and the Bomb Scare National in ’97).
I’ve also worked for racing’s main broadcaster SiS. My last job was at the Tote where I was commercial director for 5 years before leaving to set up my own business. I created the original scoop6 concept.
I’ve co-written and published seven novels with Richard Pitman (ex-top steeplechase jock) and we’ve recently re-published a few of them as eBooks. Thankfully, they’re getting plenty 4* and 5* reviews.
I hope you find something here that is useful or entertaining and add comments of your own.
Joe

Hi Joe,
Really like reading your blog – looking forward to any insight you may
have into the Aintree festival based on your time there. I’ll be heading over with a group of friends and a couple of nice priced winners would suit us all lovely!
Did anything catch your eye last week that may turn up in Liverpool and run well?
Thanks,
Stephen.
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the kind comments. Am resting from blog postings for a ‘fallow period’ after Cheltenham but will be blogging regularly again soon for Aintree. I’m always cautious about festival runners turning out again at Aintree. They’ve usually been primed for Cheltenham and only the huge prize money attracts them to Liverpool on a ‘might as well’ basis.
However, one which hardly looked like he’d had a race was Zarkandar in the Triumph. If he appears again at Aintree I’d bet him though, sticking to the general principle mentioned above, I wouldn’t risk too much.
Good luck
Joe
Hi Joe,
Fantastic blog here, great in-depth analysis which all punters could do with reading!
Probably a long shot but if you’d like to write some guest posts for my site http://sportingfixture.com/ we’d love to have you. You clearly have a hell of a lot of experience so anything you could do to add authority to our site would be great.
Info’s here -http://sportingfixture.com/655-2 – you can obviously promote your blog, maybe make a bit of pocket money and it wouldn’t need to be anywhere near the same depth.
If not, I’ll be stopping by again anyway!
Cheers
Matt
Thanks for the kind comments Matt. I’m pretty busy with fiction writing just now so will have to pass on your invitation (a few of my blog regulars think my tips are fiction anyway!)
Good luck with your website
Joe
No worries! Get in touch if you get some time later in the year.
And I’ll do my best to stop by here as often as possible too – keep up the good work.
